Winter Paralympics Project : The Ice Rower
This is a project aiming at creating an innovative product or sport associateed with the Winter Paralympic Games and within one of four themes.
• Sport engagement: Exploring how to engage new communities of sports-players through innovative approaches. This may also be
used to generate positive social or community collaboration and cooperation.
• Extreme sport: Proposing new extreme user groups to generate solutions with spin-off potential to a much wider player bases. Spin-in
innovations from allied and complimentary industries.
• Sports protection: Exploring innovative new ways to ensure safety and protection in existing high-adrenaline winter sports, to allow
boundaries to be pushed even further without compromising the experience.
• Future sport: A future forecast illustrating how a combination of new athletic goals, deep technology forecasts, viewing and
competitive experiences can offer challenging thoughts about future Paralympic competition. This theme requires strong envisioning
skills and narrative for communication.
At first two weeks, we interviewed five Winter Olympics& Paralympics athletes and then did the brain exercise to diverse our initial ideas. Through several days discussion and researching, we at the end shrink all the ideas into three insights and search for opportunities.

．Diversify Ideas Again Based on Three Directions Above.
According to the research and discussion between our team members, through the process we at the end decided to create a team sport which engages two different kinds of disabilities to cooperate and compete with different team. This also means they can empower each other and on longer have to wait for volunteer to help them. During this last two weeks, we develop the 3D structure, search for vendors and material, and then build a 1:1 prototype. In this phase, I am in charge of whole mechanical structure and mechanism design, and actually build the design into reality.
