Every year there are so many people lost their ability to move because of the accident. Some of them even can only move their mouths( but can't speak) and eyes. Is there any simple and more affordable method that we could apply for them to control some basic devices such as wheelchair, computer and etc.? Jaw might be the solution for this task. When you try to move your jaw, you will find you could apply force in different directions between your molars. Therefore, we should be able to use this slight movement and force to send out signal to control devices.
In short words, in this project, I am thinking about to put a sensor, for example like IBM's red dot on notebook keyboard, in mouth between molars, and use it to send out the signal to other devices. Compared with other methods for paralyzed people to connect to the world, this is relatively more reliable and much more affordable, like something under 30$. With this, patient could surf the internet to feel connected to the world, and also use it to control the wheelchair to go outside and interact with the world again.
